Thoughts From Our Winners

“Working on my case report was the most fun I had in massage school―truly. I have a strong background in science research and medical reporting. When I heard about the MTF case report contest, I thought ‘I can do research! I can write!’ and I was off and running. During the craziness of learning so many new things in school, the case report was my refuge. I prowled the med-school library, read journal articles and textbooks, and wrote ten drafts of my report. It was so much fun! I even learned by working on my client, a dwarf, how many of the quick tests and body landmarks we learn in massage really apply to the subset of clients who are tall or of average height.”  Amy Axt Hanson - 2009 Gold Award Winner

"I loved doing the research, reading other people's studies, poring through articles, the whole process!  The challenge of the work in practical application and the rewards of having a happy research client made my school experience so much more. I have been reading about massage research since graduation, as it deepens my practice and provides a firm foundation for the work that I do. Thank you, massage researchers!"
Jenny Dailey - 2008 Silver Award Winner

"Participating in the Massage Therapy Foundation's student case report contest was a very intense and rewarding challenge. It gave me the confidence to pursue more research as a therapist."
