Annual Poster Sessions

Call for Posters - 2008 AMTA National Convention

The Massage Therapy Foundation will hold its 11th annual poster session at the AMTA National Convention in Phoenix, AZ from September 18-21, 2008. We would like to invite you to present a poster of your recent massage and bodywork research and/or community service project.

The poster sessions are an integral component of the Foundation’s presence at the AMTA National Convention. They allow us to bring research to the exhibit hall floor in a professional and educational manner. More and more massage therapists are becoming exposed to research thanks to our poster sessions as an average of 900 massage therapists attend the convention each year. If you are unable to attend personally, another member of your research team can present the poster or you can ship the poster to our staff to display on your behalf.

Attached please find additional information on the poster session and poster specs. If you wish to participate, please contact Alison Pittas, Program Manager, Research and Grants via email at apittas@massagetherapyfoundation.org by July 7th, 2008.

Additionally, Alison can also be reached by phone at (847)905-1667 if you have any questions. I hope you will seriously consider participating, as your presence will considerably add to the success of our poster sessions and contribute to the dissemination of research to massage practitioners.

Poster Specs: The suggested poster size is 4' x 6'. Poster materials should be of the size and type that will fit within the alloted space and can be secured with either Velcro or push pins. The poster should present an abstract of the project that includes the following: your name, the institution where the project was based, project title, the purpose of conducting the project, a description of the population, procedures, critical results, and a discussion of the significance of the outcome.

Poster presenters are encouraged to make handouts of their abstracts and findings available to attendees. These materials can be shipped to Foundation staff in advance or can be brought by the presenter if he/she plans to be present. Tables and bulletin boards will be provided.
